Ingredients:

2 burdock roots (approximately 200g), grated

1 large carrot (approximately 150g), grated

60g plain flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 large egg, lightly beaten

120ml milk

Vegetable oil for frying

Dipping sauce or yogurt-based sauce for serving

Instructions:

In a large bowl, combine the grated burdock root, grated carrot, flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.

Stir in the lightly beaten egg and milk until a thick batter forms. If the mixture is too dry, you can add a little more liquid.

In a large frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, pressing down slightly to flatten them into fritter shapes.

Fry the fritters until they turn golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Remove the fritters from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Serve the burdock and carrot fritters with your favourite dipping sauce or a yogurt-based sauce for a tasty and satisfying starter or side dish.
